The New Building
“A Home for Hope”
We truly could not be more excited to announce that after 5 years, we have broken ground!
On Monday, October 19th… together, with our incredible community, leaders, and advocates, we officially put shovels into the ground at 995 Bridgeport Avenue in Milford, the address of our new headquarters…
A Home for Hope
Witnessing the beginning of a long held dream finally unfold is a powerful reminder of what is possible when an entire community stands up together to say that everyone deserves dignity , stability, and safety. This new space will allow us to expand our Emergency Shelter, build permanent Supportive Housing, and give ALL of our extremely strong and resilient neighbors a place where they are truly embraced and given a chance to not only gain stability, but thrive.
To everyone who has walked alongside us to make this impossible dream a reality — Thank You!
This is just the beginning…
For over 40 years, the Beth-El Center has delivered hope, compassion, and hospitality to thousands of families, children, veterans and individuals in the Greater Milford Area who are facing housing instability and food insecurity.
Our goals are simple — treat everyone with dignity and respect, do everything possible to move those in need to greater independence, and bring whole communities together in the work to solve homelessness and hunger.
We have evolved from modest beginnings as a soup kitchen to today’s Center with six very active services that include our Emergency Shelter, Community Kitchen & Hygiene Hub, Permanent Supportive Housing, Diversion Services, Outreach & Engagement, and Emergency Weather Shelter. As these services continue to increase in scope and size , Beth-El Center is looking toward the future as a community resource that serves the whole individual through a multi-disciplinary lens, providing not only secure housing but also promoting self-sufficiency, self-esteem and self-worth.
Beth-El Center plans to continue its evolution as a community resource by building a new facility at 995 Bridgeport Avenue in Milford.
The Center’s expansion and construction project will result in larger physical space adapted to provide programs for life-skills development, workforce and continuing education, community engagement and integration spaces, a non-denominational chapel, family lounges, children’s playground, permanent supportive housing units, micro–shelter units for individuals and couples, a large kitchen and , and a 24/7 community hub for access to life-saving basic resources for anyone in need. These are all vital elements in our fight against homelessness and hunger.
The new Beth-El Center will cost approximately $16 million.
The Center has been awarded construction grants from the State of Connecticut and other entities that will offset most of the construction of the new building. We will still need to cover all pre-development and post-construction costs, including land, equipment, furniture, furnishings & fixtures, technology, landscaping, asphalt, interior, children’s playground, and funds for new programs and services and the start-up operations of the new building.
We will need the support of our entire community to build the new Beth-El Center.
We have a campaign goal of $2 million that we will need to support this project.
The project has gone through all of the steps of pre-construction. Paul B. Bailey Architects has finalized the drawings and plans and La Rosa Construction has been chosen to build the new Beth-El Center at 995 Bridgeport Ave in Milford. And as of October 19th, 2026, we have officially broken ground!
